Wood, Acrylic, Dolls, Metal, Photos, Vinyl Records, Polymer, Glass

The original title of this piece was
COSBY: DECADES OF BRILLIANCE

This piece encompasses the rise and fall of one of our childhood heroes, Bill Cosby.

Panda created this piece from November 2013- March 2014. A charity came to her and asked if she would be willing to create a piece to honor Bill Cosby who was going to be the celebrity being honored at the event. Panda was overjoyed! Her work would be on display during the charity event and then auctioned off at the end of the evening. After covering the cost it took her to create the piece, the remaining money would be given to the charity.

Panda let her mind run wild and dreamt up the most special piece of art that she felt Bill Cosby would see and would help take him on a journey back in time, to all the moments that made us all fall in love with him. She had nothing but the best intentions while she was creating this piece to celebrate this legendary man and all his accomplishments.

As the scandal began to break, the charity decided to hold off on honoring Cosby at the event. Panda was devastated as she heard more and more women coming forward accusing him of rape. She was disgusted. She spent months creating this work of art to honor this man and he was a monster?! She didn’t know what to do. She thought about smashing it or burning it or just doing something to destroy it but nothing felt right. She spent the next year trying to figure it out. When Panda saw the cover of New York magazine, with 35 of Cosby’s accusers on the cover, she knew exactly what she needed to do.

No matter how much you run from it, the past always catches up to you. When people see this piece, they’ll see the truth, and that's all anyone could ever ask for —

THE TRUTH.
